There are reports of serious differences between the two vernacular partners who own the Bombay’s English newspaper DNA. ZEE group and dainik Bhaskar have fallen out real bad.
Apparently the zee group delivered its part of the bargain by building a great brand. Dna has a brand recall in two years that would take others many decades.
However bhaskar could not deliver on content. The joke is that at Rs. 400 crore the navy war room story is the world’s most expensive newsbreak! It is the only story that DNA broke so far. What is more they have lost the editor gautm adhikari who from being the editor of DNA has bald facedly decided to be the edit page editor of toi at an estimated 70 per cent salary cut. He fancy’ himself as a bit of an academic having read back pages of such classics as democracy in America.
They have also lost balakrishnana their marketing head and senior editors such as ayaz memon are reportedly looking to the gulf for greens. Their Ceo an ex royal Dutch \ shell man called U R RAO finding himself in really sticky position has offered his resignation three times. And will it is learnt go soon
However the bhaskar stable in its horse’s ass attitude in unashamed. They are getting a vernacular editor for DNA from Bhopal and have hired 25 trainees paying them the combined salary of the editor. Of course the costliest newsbreak in the world meanwhile keeps getting costly.
Oh and all those fancy magazines that stocked DNA’s library a year ago well the HR man has send instruction not to renew subscription. The problem is that the circulation director of DNA is facing similar situation from everywhere except navi mumbai where the paper is doing well among tamilians. This gent ex toi who heads the ruinously expensive HR department incidentally is a survivor he was caught in his office with a young intern going f\full blast a week into his assignment midst the paper launch but Bhaskar perhaps in keeping with vernacular ethical requirement fired the girl instead!
